The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is a global member network of Green Building Councils enabling green buildings and sustainable communities through leadership and market transformation. WorldGBC aims to make all buildings and communities sustainable, enabling us to thrive on our planet today and in the future. To date, its 75 global Green Building Councils and their 27,000 members, primarily companies, have educated over 400,000 green building professionals and certified over 1.2 billion square metres of green building space. The World Green Building Council was an initiating partner of the first ever Buildings Day at COP21 in Paris, and is a member of the GABC. As part of its dedication and support to the collective goals of the Alliance, the WorldGBC network and its members pledged a global commitment at COP21 to reduce emissions from buildings by 84 gigatonnes of CO2 by 2050. WorldGBC commits to mobilising a global market transformation in order to advance by 2030 and achieve by 2050 two fundamental goals: 1. Net Zero carbon new building; 2. Energy efficiency and deep refurbishment of the existing building stock.
